This week’s connection

Last week a resettlement agency reached out to us about a Rohingya refugee family arriving from Malaysia. They didn't have a translator or a culture tie into that community.

However, a connection we made with Naseem years ago solved the problem. We resettled his Burmese family from when he was just 12. He had never been to school and spoke no English.

However, Naseem thrived over the years in academics, soccer, and community. His family moved on to Milwaukee, where he is studying to be an EMT.

But with one phone call regarding a family arriving in Nashville without a cultural tie, Naseem set about using his connections.

The new family is receiving a priceless gift of acceptance and understanding. When refugees help refugees, that's what connecting kindness is all about.
